Patient Safety
|
The Institute of Medicine report on medical errors sent a shock wave through the medical establishment. Reverberations of that wave continue to resonate through the public, Congress, even to the Office of the President. A single approach to remediation cannot be found, since the causes of medical errors are ingrained in the myriad structural and functional systems by which medicine is practiced. The very complexity of the challenge may tempt us into complacency and neglect. The reduction of the medical error rate must be viewed as a process, not as a goal, since errors will never completely disappear. The Foundation For Medical Excellence is pleased to offer the following educational activities which are part of a series of educational experiences related to patient safety, medical malpractice, risk management and communication presented by the Foundation. |
